Here at ESM we’re very excited to see the latest industry report from Sprout Social describing the best times to post on Social Media. Below is an excerpt/summary and link to the full article (full credit to Sprout Social).
Facebook is still the superpower in social media with more than 1.4 billion daily active users and rightly so it’s the top choice for marketers.
These days, we have all read more and more about how organic reach is not as useful as before. Businesses are increasingly needing to pay in order to reach our audiences since Facebook’s algorithm favors posts from friends and family rather than businesses.
However, there are still some positives in regards to organic reach and based on SproutSocial’s extensive global research, we can see that:
- The best times to post on Facebook are Wednesday at noon and 2 p.m. and Thursday at 1 and 2 p.m.
- Thursday is the best day to post on Facebook in the week.
- The safest times to post include weekdays from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
- Saturday has the least amount of engagement for Facebook in the week.
- Evenings and early mornings have the least amount of engagement in the day.
What We Learned
If this data shows us anything, it’s engagement rates consistently peak during the midday on weekdays. The most engagements on Facebook are during typical lunch breaks on Wednesday and Thursday. This could be from users trying to contact businesses to reach out for help during lunch or simply because this is down time/free time to surf Facebook on their mobile.
Weekends tend to be poorer times for engagement–especially on Saturday. People are out and about on weekends so don’t expect much engagement when your audience is the busiest and while probably not away from their phone, they will be spending less time looking at it and engaging with your content.
